After spending most of the day at Rainbow and Turtleback Falls, we ended the day with a stop at Hidden Falls. This is Greg (in the green shorts) and Darrin to his right.
One bit of info on the naming of these falls. Most folks refer to this waterfall as Hidden Falls, and yet it is anything but. These falls are just downstream from Rainbow, right adjacent to a major trail, and located in plain sight, right in the middle of the river.
Bernie Boyer, waterfall guru, has a much better explanation of where the real "Hidden Falls" probably is. In the book "Land of Waterfalls", author Jim Bob Tinsley describes a waterfall downstream from Rainbow as being called "Hidden Falls". Bernie believes the name came from Jim Bob's book. However, Tinsley describes Hidden Falls as being " ..Seldom seen but often heard....in a ravine...".
Bernie set out to find the "real" Hidden falls, and found a big, two drop waterfall with a long slide at the base right where Tinsley said ... on a tributary that drains into the Horsepasture River downstream from Rainbow Falls. See photos and more info on Bernie's site.
