Once we returned to the FS road that comes in from Hwy 178, we also wanted to check out the unnamed tributary that lies just west of the Poplar Hollow ridge. Bernie had said there were two waterfalls on this one too!!
This turned out to be one of the most special stops of the day. Not only was this a lovely little waterfall, but the geology of the area was most fascinating.
We'd wended our way through an area of massive boulders that were strewn across the terrain, some with cave like areas under them.
This waterfall itself had a most unique feature ... the rock face that is directly behind the free fall portion of the drop has a massive, digagonal section that looks like an entire section of rock face had fallen away at some point ... leaving just a zig zaggy jagged section left.
Next couple shots zoom in a little to help show this.
